There's something about it

There's just something about that warm cup of joe on a chilly morning that warms your soul while awakening your mind that can hardly be gone without.

There's just something about that slightly dirty pair of jeans, a few days broken in, with the comfort of flexibility and the familiarity of going on the same journeys as you day in and day out.

There's just something about that crisp winter Florida day, cold enough for a sweater, but warm enough for  a walk in the sun.

There's just something about a five minute bike ride, slightly rushed, weaving through foot traffic, the wind making a wall out of the hair on your head so that you appear ruffled upon arrival.

There's just something about the fourth floor of the library, in that little cubby with aisles in all directions, where you can enter your own little world amongst the written worlds of many.

There's just something about that afternoon PB & J, crunchy and salty, with an explosion of sweet strawberry that keeps you going when others wait impatiently for a mediocre slab of beef on a day-old bun.

There's just something about that bed that waits for you every day, so exited for your presence every night that you can scarcely let it down.

Hello.

As this is my rookie appearance on Blogger, I thought I'd briefly introduce myself.

I am a college student in North Florida, balancing my preparations for my future with dreamy distractions that flow through my head with persistent regularity. I live in Jacksonville Beach, on the shores of the great state of Florida, a place I simultaneous love and increasingly feel the need to escape.

I have moved several times during my stay in the greater Jacksonville area, my latest stop at an old hotel turned apartment complex in the middle of the humble beach bar scene, one block from the Atlantic-kissed sand. While in theory, the Seawalk is an excellent place for a single Florida boy of my age to hole up while studying (or not studying) at the local University, the winter months here can take their toll on a central Floridian underestimating the North Florida cold. Not to sound like a wimp, after all it is still Florida. But the Beach winds, the Seawalk tile floors and my lack of a proper heating unit through December has me thinking of the possibility of moving to a more stable inland pad. Spring is coming soon enough though, and the beach will once again awake.

Anyway, that's a good enough introduction, as I am sure more will reveal itself as I write. I plan to regularly discuss any number of topics on this blog that might cross my life path, and hopefully do it from multiple appropriate perspectives that might see Pete's world from a different set of figurative eyes.

Happy living!
